Letter Writing Day in Japan

Letter Writing Day in Japan is held on July 23. The Letter Writing Day can be a bit confusing... as we found on numerous sites that this 'holiday' falls on 7th of December, then again on the official World Letter Writing Day page the date is 1st of September, and Japan issues LWD stamps each year, for over two decades now, on 23rd of July. In any case, its a nice way of reminding people of the existence of letters. This event in the third decade of the month July is annual.
Japan has a Letter Writing Week, and a Letter Writing Day (the 23rd of each month). Today, fewer and fewer people take the time to sit down and write letters to their loved ones, friends or anyone for that matter. Letter Writing Day aims to change this. This day encourages people to hand write letters and send them to their loved ones the old fashioned way – through the mail.
It turns out that writing letters also makes you happier! Numerous studies have shown that the sort of expressive writing which goes into handwriting letters — writing that expresses your inner thoughts and feelings — has a measurable positive effect on your perceived mental well being.
