It should be noted that public relations is a set of techniques and actions of strategic and coordinated communication, whose objective is to strengthen the links between different audiences and the market. The professional, representing his client, aims to sell, promote, influence or give an image of the client. To do so, he uses advertising, marketing, psychology and sociology techniques, among others.
Every September 6, Argentina celebrates the National Public Relations Day, which commemorates a day like today, but in 1979, when the Argentine Association of Public Relations Professionals was founded.
On September 6, 1979, the two leading public relations organizations in Argentina merged: on the one hand, the Argentine Association of Public Relations (AARP), founded in 1958, and the Argentine Circle of Public Relations Professionals, founded in 1961, on the other. The new association was recognized by the Inter-American Confederation of Public Relations (CONFIARP), thus establishing the core unit of Argentine public relations professionals. In commemoration of this milestone for public relations professionals in the country, the date was established as National Public Relations Day.
In 1989, it changed its name to Consejo Profesional de Relaciones Públicas de la República Argentina (Public Relations Professional Council of the Argentine Republic). It is a non-profit organization, which represents the professionals of the activity and is the referent of public relations in Argentina. Today, it has more than 600 members and brings together 30 of the most prestigious consulting firms in its field and the 17 Argentine universities that teach public relations.
